A Century Past: The 30th Division on the Western Front, 1918

Friday, May 3, 2019, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Using artifacts from the CRR and loans from individuals and other institutions, the exhibition tells the story of the Division during its training through its combat on the Western Front fighting veteran German forces along the French and Belgium borders. During October 1918 five South Carolinians earned Medals of Honor for conspicuous bravery against heavy enemy fire. The exhibition will also give a perspective of the other side through displays of German equipment, weapons, and a uniform. These objects will be supplemented with several photographs. Closed all state holidays except Confederate Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.
